OVERVIEW

Wetland Recreational is a conceptual park and dam system developed in response to Gainesville's Local GRU, seeking design proposals that are functional for both aquafer recharge and human footprint through a water discharge initiative. The resulting proposal is an educational program that demonstrates the filtrating process while guiding visitors throughout the park playgrounds. Within the proposal, there are multiple small habitable dam structures to serve as resting/ reading pavilions while the main observation building is also cross-programmed as a community library for all ages.

As a third-year studio design project, the initial site analysis included assessing the physical site, researching the community context, as well as calculating the technical requirements from the aquafer discharge. The class initially tackled the plan layout as a group, then diverged into individual directions to execute program deliverables as needed per proposal.
